Founded in 2000 by Marisa Jahn and myself, Pond is a 501(3)c nonprofit grassroots art-activist organization dedicated to showcasing experimental art.

Our mission is to create a non-competitive forum that fosters dialogue between artists and the greater community in an accessible and intimate environment. From 2001-2008, Pond has showcased the work of over 200 international artists through the production of over 26 gallery exhibitions, 3 international cultural exchanges, three city-wide public art projects, three lecture series, and various screenings and special events. In 2003, Pond shifted its programmatic focus towards experimental public art. This challenge to imagine curatorial alternatives allowed for a greater access by the public to experimental art and erased the boundaries between exhibiting and curating work. This mandate has led us to since curate exhibitions in other venues and public spaces.

Through endless volunteer hours and donations from surrounding organizations and individuals, Pond established itself as one of the Bay Area's premier venues for showcasing cutting edge art.
